This is a quick overview of the Beginner Program Highlights.  For complete Beginner Program details, please click on the Beginner Hockey Info item in the left column.

Class Details: There are 15 sessions for each class, each session lasting 1 hour in length.

Equipment: Please see the Equipment List in the Beginner Hockey Info section of our web site for complete equipment requirements.

Orientation: Orientation meetings are held prior to the start of the on-ice sessions. We will hold several orientation meetings for you to choose from. At these orientation meetings, we will discuss equipment topics, hand out information, answer questions and finalize your paperwork so that you will be ready to go at the first on-ice class. The orientation dates are posted on our web site in the PHA News Items and in the Beginner Hockey sections.

Class Schedule: The class schedule will be distributed at your orientation meeting and posted on our web site in the PHA News Items and in the Beginner Hockey sections

Rinks: We utilize two rinks for the Beginner Program: Ice Center @ San Mateo and the Ice Center @ Cupertino at the Vallco mall in Cupertino.

Graduation: During the latter sessions of the Beginner Program, your class will be divided into teams in order to conduct some controlled scrimmages and get you ready to move into real games in the following season. Upon graduating from the PHA Beginner Program, your team will move into a conference with the other beginner teams and start the next season as a full-fledged team, ready to play games

Jerseys: You will be issued a white jersey at your first class, complete with a PHA logo and a number. Toward the latter sessions, you will be issued a colored jersey that will be used for the scrimmages. Your team will then have a home (white) and away (colored) jersey suitable to be used as a team jersey in the following seasons.

Cost: The cost for the Beginner Program is $399. This includes the on-ice sessions as well as the two jerseys. We accept a $100 deposit to secure your roster spot, with the balance due at your orientation meeting.

Goaltenders: If you want to learn to play as a goaltender, contact the PHA office for a special offer we have in place for beginner goalies.
